ICC Men and Women World Cup is played in two formats , First one is One - day format and the second one is T - 20 format. In this article , will discuss about the beginning of  Women One - day and T- 20 Cricket World Cup and history of ICC Women world Cup in detail. 








1 . When did the first time ICC women One - day World Cup play - 

ICC women One - day World Cup first tournament has been held in 1973 from 20 June to 28 July at England. The first match was played between Jamaica and Newzeland at London on 20 June 1973. The final match was played between Australia and England on 28 July 1973 at Edgabaston, Birmingham .  England won the Final match by defeating Australia. The top scorer of the season was Enid Bakewell - 264 runs and the most wicket taker was Rosalind Heggs - 12 wickets . 


2. Brief description about the journey of  Women One - day World Cup from 1973 to 2022 -

 

 Women World Cup - 1973 - 

This is the first season of ICC Women World Cup played before two years of  the men World Cup Event that was played for the first time in 1975. This season was held at England from 20 June to 28 July 1973 at England. The first match was played between Jamaica and Newzeland on 20 June 1973. The final match was played between Australia and England on 28 July 1973 at Edgabaston ,  Birmingham . Engalnd defeated Australia in the finale and won the tournament. 


 Women World Cup - 1978 - 

The second season of ICC women World Cup was organised at India . Total 4 countries - India , Australia , England and Newzeland participated . First match was played between Australia and Newzeland . The finale was played between Australia and England , England scored 96 -8 in 50 overs and Australia chased the score in 31.3 overs by scoring 100 -2 . Australia won the tournament and England was runner of this season. Top scorer of the season was Margaret Jennings scored 127 runs , and the most wicket taken by Sharyn Hill. 


 Women World Cup - 1982 - 

This third season of ICC Women World Cup was held at Newzeland. Total 5 teams - Australia , England , Newzeland , India and International 11 were participated for this season . First match was played between Australia and India and has won by Australia. The final match was played between England and Australia, England bat first and scored 151 - 5 in 60 overs and while chasing England Australia scored 152 - 7 in 59 overs. Australia won the tournament by defeating England. Janeete Britain scored the most run - 391 and most wicket has been taken by Lyn fullston . 


 Women World Cup - 1988 - 

This fourth season of ICC Women World Cup was held at Australia . Total 5 countries - Australia , England , Ireland , Netherland and New Zeland . Total 22 matches were played between these 5 countries. The finale was played between Australia and England, a score of 127 - 7 scored by England in 60 overs and while chasing Australia scored 129 - 2 in 44.5 overs. Player of the series was Carloe Hodges . Top scorer of the season was Lynnsee Reeler and most wicket taken by Lyn Fullston . 



 Women World Cup - 1993 - 

This fifth season of Women World Cup was held at England. Total 8 Countries participated in this season and 29 matches were played. Participating countries were - Australia ,England ,Newzeland , Netherland , INdia , Denmark , Ireland and West Indies. The Finale was played between England and Newzeland. England bat first and scored 195 - 6 in 60 overs, while chasing Newzeland team got all out at a score of 128 in 55.1 overs. England won the title of the season by defeating Newzeland. Top scorer of the season was Jann Brittin 416 runs , most wicket taken by Karen Smithies of England and Julie Harris of Australia. 


 Women World Cup - 1997 - 

This season was held at India for the first time . Total 11 countries participated in this season and total 33 matches were played among these countries. Final match was played between Australia and Newzeland at Eden Garden , Kolkata . Newzeland bat first and scored 164 runs in 49.3 overs , while chasing Australia scored 165 - 5 in 47.4 overs . Australia won the fourth title by defeating Newzeland. Most runs was scored by Debbie Hockley - 456 runs and most wicket taken by Katrina of Australia . 


Women World Cup - 2000 - 

This season of Women World Cup was held at Newzeland , total o countries participated in this season and 31 matches were played among the 8 countries. The final match was played between Newzeland and Australia . Newzelands bat first and scored 184 in 48.4 overs , while chasing Australia scored 184 and got all out in 48.4 overs. Newzeland won first title by defeating Austarlia . Most runs were scored by Karen Rolton -  393 runs and most wicket taken by Charmaine mason . 


Women World Cup - 2005 - 

This season of Cricket World Cup was first time hosted by South Africa , total 8 countries played 31 matches . The final match was played between Australia and India . Australia bat first and scored 215 - 4 in 50 overs , while Chasing India got all out at a score of 117 runs in 46 overs . Australia won fifth title by defeating India. Most runs - 280 runs were scored by Charlotte Edwards of australian team and most wicket taken by Neetu of Indian team . 




Women World Cup - 2009 - 

This season of Women world cup was hosted by Australia . Total 8 countries participated and 25 matches were played among 8 countries . The final match was played between Newzeland and England. Newzeland bat first and scored 166 runs in 47.2 overs , while chasing England scored 167 - 6 in 46.1 overs . England won third title by defeating Newzeland . Most runs - 324 runs were scored by Claire Taylor and most wicket taken by Laura Marsh . 


Women world Cup - 2013 - 




This season was hosted by India for the second time . Total 8 countries participated and 25 matches were played among 8 countries . The finale was played between Australia and West Indies . Australia bat first and scored 259 runs in 50 overs , while chasing West Indies team got all out at a score of 145 runs in 43.1 overs. Most runs - 407 runs were scored by Sujie Bates and most wicket taken by Megan schutt. 


Women world Cup - 2017 - 



This season of Women world cup was hosted by England . Total 8 countries played 31 matches . The final match was played between England and India . England bat first and scored 228 runs in 50 overs ,  while chasing Indian team got all out at a score of 219 runs . England won fourth title by defeating India. Most runs - 410 runs were scored by Tammy Beaumont of England and most wicket taken by Dane Niekark of South Africa . 


Women World Cup - 2022 - 



This season of women world Cup hosted by Newzeland. Total 8 countries participated in this season and 31 matches were played among 8 countries . 

Semi - final 1 match was palyed between Australia and West Indies and Australia defeated West Indies by 157 runs . 

Semi - final 2 match was played between England and South Africa. England bat first and scored 293 - 8 in 50 overs , while chasing South africa team got all out at a score of 156 runs in 38 overs. England won the match by 137 runs . 


Final match was played between Australia and England . Australia bat first and scored a large target of 356 - 5 in 50 overs , while chasing England team got all out at a score of 285 runs in 43.4 overs . Australia won the match by 71 runs .

Most runs - 509 were scored by Alyssa Healy of Australia and won the player of the series , most wicket taken  by Sophie of England .
