Asian games played for the first time in 1951 held at Delhi , hosted by India . Total 11 countries participated in 1951 Asian games . This is the first edition of Asian games . Asian games is the second largest sport event in the world after the Olympic  games . Total 489 athletes of 11 countries participated in the first Asian games .

Third edition of Asian games held in Tokyo , hosted by Japan . Total 1820 athletes of 20 countries participated in third asian games and 112 events occured in 13 sport . The game official opened by Hirohito , and the torch has lighted by Mikio Oda .
